Numerical solutions of third-order system of boundary value problems

We develop a two stage numerical method for computing approximate solutions of a system of third-order boundary value problems associated with odd order obstacle problems. Such a problem arise in physical oceanography and can be studied in the framework of variational inequality theory. We show that the present method is of order two and gives numerical results which are better than the other a...

The Numerical Solution of Linear Third Order Boundary Value Problems using Nonpolynomial Spline Technique

Second and fourth order convergent methods based on Quartic nonpolynomial spline function are presented for the numerical solution of a third order two-point boundary value problem. The proposed approach gives better approximations than existing polynomial spline and finite difference methods and has a lower computational cost. Convergence analysis of the proposed method is discussed; two numer...

Boundary Value Technique for Finding Numerical Solution to Boundary Value Problems for Third Order Singularly Perturbed Ordinary Differential Equations

A class of singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems (BVPs) for third order ordinary differential equations is considered. The BVP is reduced to a weakly coupled system of one first order Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) with a suitable initial condition and one second order singularly perturbed ODE subject to boundary conditions. In order to solve this system, a computational ...

‎A Consistent and Accurate Numerical Method for Approximate Numerical Solution of Two Point Boundary Value Problems

In this article we have proposed an accurate finite difference method for approximate numerical solution of second order boundary value problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions. There are numerous numerical methods for solving these boundary value problems. Some these methods are more efficient and accurate than others with some advantages and disadvantages. The results in experiment on model...

On two classes of third order boundary value problems with finite spectrum

‎The spectral analysis of two classes of third order boundary value problems is investigated‎. ‎For every positive integer $m$ we construct two classes of regular third order boundary value problems with at most $2m+1$‎ ‎eigenvalues‎, ‎counting multiplicity‎. ‎These kinds of finite spectrum results are previously known only for even order boundary value problems‎.

B-Spline Solution of Boundary Value Problems of Fractional Order Based on Optimal Control Strategy

In this paper, boundary value problems of fractional order are converted into an optimal control problems. Then an approximate solution is constructed from translations and dilations of a B-spline function such that the exact boundary conditions are satisfied. The fractional differential operators are taken in the Riemann-Liouville and Caputo sense. Several example are given and the optimal err...
